Membership Renewal 2024
Society membership is due for renewal on 1st March 2024.
The base subscription will continue at just £24. Postal supplements for overseas members will also remain at the current rates of £7 f EU members and £10 for Rest of the World members.
The overall strategy for subscriptions will continue to be (unless significant events disrupt it!):
Members have until 1st June to complete their renewal.

The renewal process is now open. You can renew:
- Online, for payment by debit card, credit card or Paypal
- By mail, for payment by cheque, debit card or credit card or new for this year, via Bank Transfer (BACS) from a UK bank only direct into the Society's account.
Online Renewal
Members may renew online below. Follow the 'Renew now' link next to the rate that will apply to your renewed membership to start the process. There will be a final confirmation step once your payment details are taken. Please note that, in compliance with the changes to the Data Protection regulations introduced three years ago and other legislation, all membership information from the Society will contain the following notice:
Data Protection Act 2018
The Society holds computer records of personal data in respect of each of its members unless the member has specifically requested manual processing. In accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018, by renewing membership, members consent to their personal data being used for any or all of the following purposes:
- the compilation and distribution of relevant names and contact information (address, email and telephone) to officers of the Society for the fulfilment of their Society functions.
- transmission of members’ contact information to third parties for the sole purpose of distributing Society publications or resources;
- release into the custody of computer hardware or software specialists where necessary for the maintenance or repair of equipment or software;
- retention of members’ financial transactions with the Society for such period (currently six years) as HMRC or other regulatory institutions of the UK may require;
- any other disclosure which the Committee reasonably believes is necessary or legally required.
For the purposes of the Act the Data Controller shall be the Committee.
Please note: the Society no longer produces or publishes a Membership List(s) to members of the Society for use only within the Society.

Right of Cancellation: You have a legal right to cancel this application, and receive a full refund, within fourteen days. Please contact the Membership Secretary if you wish to do so.

Renewal by Mail
Members who wish to renew by mail can print out the form below, and return it to the Membership Secretary (details on the form) by 1st June. Payment can be made by a cheque or by providing debit card details or credit card details or, new for this year, via Bank Transfer (BACS) from a UK bank only direct into the Society’s account. Please email the Membership Secretary at memsec@scalefour.org for details if you wish to renew via BACS. Please note there is no need to send a SAE. Thank you.
